Step 1: Put your MP3 player or whatever on random.
Step 2: Post the first line from the first 20 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
Step 5: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is CHEATING!

It's official... [Apr. 3rd, 2006|10:44 am]
I just don't need sleep anymore. Could be all the x-l timmy's coffees i've been drinking every day between 2 and 4 in the morning, but i've had about 6 hours of sleep in the past 48 hours, and I don't even feel it. I was up until 7ish last night, and then finally went to bed, and realized 20 minutes into lying there that i couldn't sleep. so i got up, showered and got dressed, and watched the new sopranos while my laundry dried. i did a new york times crossword and called my mommy too. sleep is overrated... i get so much more done when i'm sleep-deprived.

Sooooooo WIRED! [Mar. 27th, 2006|07:28 am]
Coffee and Timmy Ho's ROCK. I got an x-large coffee at TH at around 1:30, and I stayed up all night. Not only am I almost done with the paper that until yesterday at around 8 I had only just started, but I have also written 3 pages of my other term paper, washed my sheets, done a load of laundry, done all my dishes, cleaned my room, organized my shoes, and made some EXCELLENT mac and cheese for me and Rachael. *SCHLURRRRPPP*

I love coffee. The only problem is, with my heart and my stomach having switched places and my heart rate registering as an 8 on the Richter scale, I'm having SOME problems actually sitting down and working when all I want to do is vaccuum my entire room.

Gah... gonna try and edit a bit before possibly going on a run.

Andover Has Screwed Me [Mar. 26th, 2006|05:04 pm]
Andover screwed me up. It was supposed to be good preparation for university, but all I learned was that no matter how long you procrastinate, you can still drink a pot of coffee, stay up for 24 hours, and turn out a paper, no matter the length. So I'm NOT writing my paper that is due Tuesday, and am instead checking livejournal, cleaning my room, making bagels, talking to people, updating my facebook profile, and bemoaning the general state of affairs in my life.

Somebody needs to kick me and tell me to start working RIGHT NOW.

More whining! [Mar. 22nd, 2006|12:12 pm]
And... as if I hadn't whined enough yet...

I have decided that I can no longer feel completely at home in NY, because I will always miss Tim Horton's. It is within two blocks of res, open 24 hours a day, and serves decent enough coffee. Mostly it's the whole 24 hour a day aspect. And the awesome people who hang out there. And the muffins... those are pretty awesome.

So now I'm mad, because I was all excited for NY coffee and delis when I went home, and I'm positive I'm gonna be missing Timmy Ho's.

What I really need is for someone to slap me and tell me that there are more important things to be whining about. Like snow in spring. Or the state of things in Iraq. Or the fact that I have no clean socks.

Fire Drills Can Bite Me [Mar. 20th, 2006|01:50 pm]
I HATE HATE HATEEEE the people in Innis res. How hard is it to close the door when you're cooking? I cook all the time and set off the fire alarm in my room on a regular basis, but I have yet to set off the alarm in the hall and force EVERYONE out of bed at ten o'clock on a Monday morning to stand in the freezing cold in their pajamas and flip flops, only to find that when they go upstairs they can't get back to sleep.

On the plus side, I did get a bit of work, two episodes of Sex and the City, and a long-overdue phone call in this morning, plus I drank an entire pot of coffee to make up for the fact that I got three hours of sleep (yes, I did go to bed at 7 am), and I worked on my screenplay for a good hour. So yay for being productive.

I'm still looking for a good deli... leave ideas here; I'll love you forever.
link1 comment|post comment

*Whine* [Mar. 20th, 2006|01:23 am]
I miss New Yoooorrrrkkkkk.

I want a deli. Or at least somewhere you can get a cup of coffee and a roll for a buck. I miss that. Toronto is cool, but there is absolutely NO WHERE to go for just coffee without all the bells and whistles and latte/capuccino/mochaccino stuff. It bugs me.

So... enough about that. I don't need to whine about it too much cause I'm headed home soon for Easter, where I'm sure to either have a blast or a dull time watching Law and Order re-runs. The entire fam is coming down for Easter, so that should be interesting. I have sacrificed my bed to my sister in the hopes that I will be able to sneak in and sleep on the couch at all hours. My parents don't care, but I get this odd feeling that my aunts, uncles, and grandparents won't be thrilled that my Mom lets me wander around NYC until 3, 4, 5, 6 in the morning...

School is almost out for the year and it's weirding me out a bit. Soon it's back to LI for me, where I'll be working once again at Dee Angelo's all summer, hopefully waitressing as opposed to bussing this time. Should be fun. If not fun, I should at least be getting some good money out of it. This summer is all about the cash. Next summer I'll consider doing something at least a bit useful.

This entry was kinda pointless, but what do you want from me? It's 1:30 in the morning. Maybe I'll be more coherent tomorrow morning/afternoon (AKA, at 2:00 when I wake up.)

Andover all over again.... [Feb. 14th, 2006|01:09 am]
As much as I would love this to be a cynical, "I hate Valentine's Day" post, it's not gonna turn out that way. I'm too preoccupied with work. I have a huge midterm tomorrow which, due to my chronic procrastination, I started studying for today at 3. The last two tests in this class, I started studying three days before, worked like a madman, and was still reviewing as I walked into the room. On top of that, I realized this afternoon that I have a huge piece of my term paper due Wednesday morning, which I have yet to start research for. I've basically calculated that until 6:00 PM on Wednesday, I have enough time to go to class, study, and sleep for three hours. Maybe four. But probably three. If I can BS my way through some of the term paper thing, I may fit in a 20 minute nap. Crystal Meth, anyone?

Some people may be wondering, then, why the hell I am on livejournal. There is a very good explanation for this: if I learned one thing at the concentration camp/fun-sucking black hole that is Andover, it was that the only way to effectively study is to break up 45 minute studying blocks with 3-5 sanity-regaining mmusic breaks. Yay Colin Hay... I have time for exactly one song.

On a completely unrelated note... I think that I'm addicted to salad. Is that weird? I've had a total of three salads in the past 24 hours. I can't decide if it's because it's the easiest and quickest thing in my kitchen, or if I genuinely wanted three big bowls of vegetables. And now I sound like Debby. Fabulous.

I can't get to sleep... I think about the implications.... [Feb. 13th, 2006|02:13 am]
I LOVE my new Scrubs soundtrack music. It's SO good. I'm gonna have to go take Izzy's idea about finding fansites for Scrubs and Grey's Anatomy and d/l all the music. And have a little dance party. By myself.

Speaking of Grey's Anatomy: BEST show on television. VERY good episode tonight. Past two have been amazing. No other show gets me so involved that at commercial break I realize that I'm perched on top of a chair that I wasn't even sitting in before and asking myself "How the hell did I get here?" Mike had to talk me out of a panic attack when I thought the main character was going to die.

So yeah... we went house visiting today. Saw one. Sucky landlord at a great house with an AWESOME location. I'm still thinking that taking Mike's brother up on his sublet might be the best option... we'll see after we see said apartment tomorrow and the much-lauded loft when the dumb real estate agent calls me back.

Wow... my life is boring if all I can talk about is television and real estate. Next it'll be the weather. And the condition of the roads. Quite dry... don't you think? Oh... yes. Quite dry.

It's like yesterday, when I was out all day in the rain, so getting into dry dorm clothes and having hot coffee when I got home was awesome. When you spend all day in dorm clothes drinking coffee, it's just not the same.

I remember this summer, when I was working all day, coming home and sitting on the couch watching TV was the best feeling in the whole world; now I just don't care. Even when I was younger and I couldn't get to sleep, I would do a bunch of push-ups and sit-ups so that lying in bed and not moving would feel more comfortable. I officially have a new reason to actually be busy and get stuff done: down time just isn't as much fun when it's all you do.

Here comes the return of Emily circa Upper Spring to Senior Winter... I've been slacking off for too long.

On a completely different note, I'm taking a poll... )

essentialism ROCKS [Feb. 3rd, 2006|01:16 pm]
So, I got bored yesterday. What does a person do when they're bored? Walk around downtown Toronto for three hours, of course! AND I was in a skirt... because when it's 40 degrees out, everyone wants to wear a skirt. I got leered at. It was... interesting.
I called Adeel, who had just gotten back from a run, and he said he'd come hang out with me, so I had to hang around the corner of Spadina and College for thirty minutes, because I didn't want to walk BACK down College and have the creepy homeless man who I hadn't given money twice already leer at me. So I stood outside Green Room and pretended I was meeting someone, and some guy who was standing there gave me a light. We had a three second awkward conversation, and then a five-minute awkward staring off into space contest while he waited for his real friends and I waited for my fake ones. When his friend finally got there, they stood outside for ANOTHER five minutes, not-so-inconspicuously talking about me. When they finally went inside, I had to pretend my phone rang and leave.
Then I stood outside 7-11 for about 15 minutes, eating a lollipop. More leering ensued. Note to self: skirt=bad idea in Kensington and on College and Spadina.
Adeel finally showed up, but he ran away so that he could creep up on me from a different direction. I told him that it didn't matter what direction he came from: I had a bad sense of direction, and wouldn't know the difference. Then we got Thai Food... and I solved my existential crisis with some help from DR. ADEEEEEEL. (that should be said in one of those loud, echo-y, sci-fi movie voices. Like Lost in Space or something.)
